Kevin Dowd and Rick Romkey, Halestar's original founders, formed Atlantic Computing (atlantic.com) in 1993 to provide IP security services and products to businesses. They built Atlantic into one of the country's largest Check Point and Nokia resellers. Atlantic merged into Articon-Integralis in 2000.

Halestar was founded to address present day security concerns, to provide support and product for perimeter security, to combine the highest levels of customer service with the highest caliber talent, and to pursue third generation managed security opportunities. Rick left Halestar in September 2006. Kevin continues to lead the Halestar team to this day.

Halestar has offices in Connecticut and southern Virginia. The company is a multi-site Check Point partner and authorized training center.

Halestar is privately funded and is profitable.
